Like many midwives, Susie Corcoran decided to practice midwifery after the birth of her first child in 1987. She was amazed at how well the process worked and felt called to help other women through the process. She became licensed and attended home births both in Portland and in the rural areas to the south. Eventually she decided to pursue nursing and upon graduation from the Nurse-Midwifery program at OHSU, she took a position with an OBGYN group and attended deliveries in a hospital setting. In 2007, she worked with the Midwifery Group at Bella Vie Gentle Birth Center while completing a post-masters certificate in Family Practice. During this time she opened Aurora Women’s Health and Midwifery Services. In 2012 she and her husband, Tim, purchased the ‘Miller House’ and began a restoration project that would become the center for both births and family practice. She now provides birth services at the Aurora Birth Center.
Susie is grateful to be living her dream, caring for women and families in a beautiful, old fashioned environment just right around the corner from her home in Aurora. She loves to grow vegetables and flowers, play with her bull-dogs, and hold babies.
