Joanne was born in Switzerland and raised in the U.S. in a bilingual English-French household. At age 7 she witnessed the home birth of her younger sister, which eventually lead her to midwifery. Joanne has had the opportunity to attend over 100 births with a home birth practice and a birth center in Oregon’s MidValley. She trained with nine different midwives, both CPMs and CNMs, gaining unique skills and wisdom from each. She graduated with a midwifery degree in Midwifery Science from Midwives College of Utah in 2016, and was student of the year. Joanne hopes to eventually serve as a midwife overseas in Africa or East Asia and help train local traditional birth attendants. In her free time, Joanne enjoys exploring the outdoors. She loves the mountains and forests, as well as getting to know the plants and medicinal herbs that grow in the area. She is always doing something with her hands and her creativity, whether it be cooking, weaving, art, archery, or playing her violin.
