Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine
Chinese Medicine is an accent Eastern medical system which incorporates modalities such as Acupuncture, herbs, qi gong, cupping and more. This system seeks to balance the body through energy channels and a consideration of the 5 elements which comprise our world.
Acupuncture is the insertion of tiny needles the size of a hair into specific points on the body. The effect is gentle and has been shown to be beneficial for many health problems, including acute or chronic pain, injuries, depression, anxiety, menstrual irregularities, fertility problems, and more. The insertion of needles relaxes muscles, improves circulation and activates the nervous system, calling on the body to return normal function and to balance various aspects of physiology. Acupuncture’s effectiveness has been supported by many organizations, including the National Institutes of Health, the World Health Organization and the Oregon Medical Board.
Some conditions acupuncture can treat:
- Fertility problems and menstrual irregularities
- Pain, whether from injury or unknown cause
- Sports injuries
- Depression and anxiety
- Neurological disorders and chronic conditions
- Allergies (including seasonal or food)
- Pregnancy discomforts or complications, including breech baby
- Prolonged pregnancy (can help induce labor)
